Janie Buchanan

Janie Mae Buchanan, 73, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, formerly of Chesterfield, passed away Friday, October 14, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Claude Douglas, and Sarah Elizabeth Wright Douglas. Mrs. Buchanan was the widow of Stephen D. Buchanan Sr., and was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Jean Price, a son Richard Allen Buchanan, and a brother Claude W. Douglas. She attended Oaklawn Baptist Church in Chesterfield County. Mrs. Buchanan is survived by her daughter, Frances Ann Martin of South Carolina; son Stephen D. Buchanan of North Carolina; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a brother, George Thomas Douglas of Chester, Virginia. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2011 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia with the Reverend Jim Pfost officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 19, 2011 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory 2033 Boulevard 23834.
