On Friday, December 23, 2022, Jean Beemer of South Chesterfield went to be home with her Lord and Savior. She passed away peacefully at her residence at the age of 85.
Jean was born on June 7, 1937 in Petersburg, Virginia, to Odelia Bosher Edwards. Jean remained in Central VA where she married Richard L. Crowder, Sr. Together they raised three boys, Richard L. Crowder, Jr, Dale W. Crowder, and Phillip N. Crowder, Sr. She later remarried to Johnnie Beemer.
Jean was preceded in death by her mother, Odelia Edwards; brothers, Douglas Edwards and Ronnie Edwards; late husbands, Richard L. Crowder, Sr., and Johnnie Beemer; and two sons, Dale Crowder and Phillip Crowder.
Jean is survived by her oldest son, Ricky (Sherrie); her brother, Davey Edwards (Dianne); grandchildren, Maegan Voelkel (Joshua), Anna Crowder (Russell), and Phillip Crowder, Jr; a great-grandson, Vincent; close nieces, Ann Marseé (Richard) and Betsy Stafford (Barry); and a close nephew, Dr. Philip Murray (Ken).
Jean was an avid gardener, fashionista, and baking queen. She was involved with her church and looked forward to outings with the Primetimers. She loved to travel.
Jean was a dear friend to all that knew her and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the funeral home. Interment will take place privately in the Village of Matoaca Cemetery.
