Jeanette Marie Bittner (Leighty), age 48 of Disputanta VA, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 7, 2014. She was born to Fred Swanson and Betty Leighty on March 20, 1966. Jeanette was raised in a military family and spent years abroad in Germany where she played softball and enjoyed being a cheerleader. Her father was assigned to Fort Sill, Oklahoma where Jeanette spent her high school years at Lawton High. She was an active member of the First Baptist East Church of Lawton, witnessing and winning souls to the Lord. Her passion was simply to serve Christ the best she could. Children were Jeanette's center of life and pure love and joy. She devoted her life to her children and raised them with a firm foundation and loving knowledge of Christ. She homeschooled her 10 children, and taught them to serve and honor God with all of their hearts, souls, mind, and strength. Jeanette's sole focus was on raising Godly young men and women, and nurturing them with the love of God. Her children were her world. A perfect day for Jeanette would include 90 degree weather, sun, beach, and flying a kite with her children. Her love of life was at the beach in the sand and sun while watching the sun set, and thanking God for all His Blessings that He had bestowed upon her. Jeanette is survived by her husband Kenneth Bittner, and her children Daniel (and Jessica), Jacqueline (and Elliott Deilus), Stephen, Priscilla (and Joshua Lam), Abigail, Gabriella, Kenneth Jr., Josephine, Isaac, and Alexis. Jeanette is further survived by her first grandchild Presley London Lam, Betty Leighty (mother), Fred Leighty (brother), Tammy Spears (sister), and Debbie Goulet (sister). She also leaves behind many caring relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday September 11, 2014 in the Fort Lee Memorial Chapel 1901 Sisisky Boulevard Fort Lee, Virginia 23801. Jeanette requested a private burial with her family. The family will receive friends Wednesday September 10, 2014 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Petersburg Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 3935 S. Crater Road. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her, prayed for her, provided meals, visited, and sent cards and flowers over the last fifteen months. Your love to her family shows how much you loved her, and helped her to pass into heaven with a joyful heart, and the knowledge that her family would be well cared for and looked after.
