Jearl Harrison (Jerry) Darby, 74, of McKenney, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at John Randolph Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Otelia Barnes and John Atwell Harrison Sr., the widow of David Warren Darby Sr., and was preceded in death by four brothers, John Atwell Harrison Jr., David Wallace Harrison, Alfred Francis Harrison and Carl Manson Harrison; and five sisters, Alma H. Reeves, Molly Bett Scarborough, Mildred H. Wells, Myrtle H. Tudor, and Nancy H. Hobgood. Mrs. Darby was a retired Registered Nurse. She is survived by a son, David Warren Darby Jr. and wife, Marianne of Matoaca; two grandsons, David Warren Darby III, and William Harrison Darby; a brother, Otis L. Harrison of Strasburg, Pennsylvania; a sister, June H. Fox of Capron, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010 in Asbury Memorial Cemetery, McKenney, Virginia with the Reverend Michelle E. Lindsey officiating. The family would like to thank the staff of Hopewell Healthcare Center for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Central Virginia Chapter, 2112 W. Laburnum Avenue, Suite 204, Richmond, Virginia 23227. Arrangements by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
