Jeffrey McFarlane, 46, passed away at his home in Chester on Saturday, September 30, 2017, after a long and hard-fought battle against cancer. Born in Richmond, Virginia, to Kenneth E. McFarlane and Ellen Vernell McFarlane, Jeffrey was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Keith McFarlane, Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Virginia B. and James R. Nunnally; his paternal grandparents, Ruth H. and Kenneth E. McFarlane, Sr; and his father-in-law, James E. Dean. Jeffrey was a known fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Jeff Gordon, and had a passion for spending time with his closest friends and family members. Whether he was boating, spending time at the beach, or just traveling, Jeffrey was at his happiest when he was surrounded by those that mattered most to him. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Teresa McFarlane; his children, Brittany Lynne McFarlane, Abigail Dawn McFarlane, and James Thomas McFarlane; four brothers, Kenneth E. McFarlane, III and wife, Elizabeth, Brian J. McFarlane, Matthew S. McFarlane and wife, Niki, and Christopher R. McFarlane; his five nieces and nephews, Jonathan, Jacob, Megan, Dylan and Dakobe; his mothers-in-law, Kathern A. Starnes and Ruby S. Dean; aunt-in-law, Creola Chenault and her daughter, Dawn D. Taylor; devoted friends, Kevin Bales, Jimmy Ball, Robert and Ruthann Pisle, as well as numerous other friends and coworkers. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834, with the Reverend (?) Officiating. Interment will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park 1901 Old Bermuda Hundred Rd, Chester, VA 23831. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
