Jesse Boyd Shelton, 78, of Dinwiddie, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 27, 2018. Born July 25, 1939 in Crumpler, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Monty Oliver Shelton and Sarah Simmons Shelton. As a man who loved to work, Jesse loved to do anything that got his hands moving. Things like gardening, tinkering with his tools, and being the most loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to his family. Jesse also looked forward to spending time at his beach house with friends and family, cooking crab legs and shrimp, playing golf and just having fun. Jesse has a zest for life and those who knew and loved him will miss him greatly. Jesse was also a maintenance supervisor for Reynolds Metals and later worked for Alcoa before his retirement. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Janice Faye Shelton, two sons, Bruce Boyd Shelton and wife, Patricia, and Brian Wilson Shelton: four grandchildren, Crystal Dawn Jones, Douglas Allen Seymour, Carmen Lynn Shelton and Brianna Belle Shelton; three great-grandchildren, Kierson Lily Kite, Alana Paige Campbell and Daisy Mae Seymour; two sisters, Lois Wilkins(MN) and Reatha Delwo (MN); and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.
