Jimmy Dale Arbogast, Sr.
November 30, 1949 – April 6, 2024
Jimmy “Jim” Dale Arbogast, Sr., passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, with his loving daughter and wife by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Olive Arbogast; two sisters, Avanella and Mary; three brothers, Don, Bob, and Sherman; his beloved son, Jimmy Dale Arbogast, Jr.; and a daughter-in-law, Dawn Ikehara.
Jim was born in the mountains of Huttonsville, West Virginia on November 30, 1949. After high school, he joined the Army and honorably served in Korea, Okinawa, Germany, Italy, and Fort Lee, Virginia, as a supply Sergeant and later as an instructor. After over 20 years in the Army, he retired as a Master Sergeant. Following his retirement from the Army, he worked for Standard Motors in Prince George County.
Jim loved the West Virginia Mountaineers and Washington Commanders, WWE wrestling, target shooting, trains, raising parakeets, dogs, westerns, and was an avid history buff. He loved playing basketball with his sons in the backyard as well as a good family cookout.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Yoshiko; his sisters, Jane Donachy, Linda Coffman, and Shirley Moore; his beloved daughter, Linora Roberts (Paul); sons, Yoshinori, and Joey (Julie); his faithful dog Peppy; and grandchildren, Midora, Matthew and Melinda Roberts, Justice Ikehara, and Casey Arbogast.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the Crater Road Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 3935 S. Crater Rd, Petersburg, Virginia 23805. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest privately on Saturday, April 13, 2024, in Martinsville, Virginia, in a family cemetery on his daughter and son-in-law's property. His son, Jimmy Dale Arbogast, Jr.’s ashes will be buried with his father.
