Joan Buterbaugh

Joan Clevenger Buterbaugh, 78, of Chester, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Retreat Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Louise Womack Clevenger, the widow of William H. Buterbaugh, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Carrie Alice Buterbaugh. Mrs. Buterbaugh was a member of the Chester Baptist Church, and Henricus Historical Park. She is survived by her daughters, Robin Buterbaugh and Renee Custalow both of Chester; a grandson, Matthew Monarez; a granddaughter, Shawnee Custalow; and a sister, Marie Boerner of Chester. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Reverend Dr. Lloyd Braswell officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box 96280, Washington, D.C. 20077.
