Joan Harrison

Joan W. Harrison, 77, of Colonial Heights passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at her home. Born August 30, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Jessie William and Margaret Baker Wingfield, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Eugene Harrison; and lifelong best friend, Betty Jo Henshaw. Joan cherished her time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Susan V. Haydon and husband, Buddy, Ronda A. Harrison; grandchildren, Misty Jarratt, Hunter Haydon and wife, Jennifer, Ryan Haydon; great-grandchildren, Bailey Wallace, Kole Wallace, Clayton Wallace, Aubree Haydon, Garrett Haydon; sister, Jean Marshpund; two devoted nieces, Evelyn "Pooney" Goddard and husband, John, Sheri Mayton; nephew, Ronald "Bubba" Marshpund; and many other extended family members. The family would like to recognize the nursing staff at Southside Regional Medical Center, particularly Brittany, Erin, and Emily for their extraordinary compassion and kindness through Joan's stay with them. A funeral service will take at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Reverend Jim Burton officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia.
