Joan Selden

Joan Beverly Selden, 69, of Chester, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at John Randolph Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Ralph A. and Marguerite L. Hatchell. She loved taking annual trips to Nags Head, where she watched the surf, seagulls and dolphins. She was outgoing and giving, and had a witty sense of humor. Mrs. Selden was a loving mother to her three children, Edward B. Selden IV of Chester, John R. Selden and wife, Anni of Chester, and Debra L. Banton and husband, Blake of Amelia; two granddaughters, Marguerite and Beverly Banton of Amelia. The family will receive friends at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 with a Memorial Service to follow at 4:00 p.m. in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Private Interment. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local Humane Society.
