John Archer

Captain John G. Archer Jr. of Colonial Heights died at his home on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late John G. Archer Sr. and Ella Crowder Archer. He was a member of Second Chance Baptist Church, an Army Air Force veteran having served during World War II, and a retired Tugboat Captain for Vulcan Materials Company, with over 50 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Thelma S. Archer; daughter, Debra K. Boisvert; stepchildren, Sheila A. Delano, and Al D. Delano and wife, Sheri; grandchildren, his beloved Pastor Alan S. Delano and wife, Alyssa, Sonny A. and Tristan A. Delano; a precious great-grandson, Sawyer D. Delano; a brother, William Archer and wife, Patricia; three sisters, Margaret Hope, Mary Grotz, and Ruth Stuckey. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2012 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend David Prather and Pastor Alan S. Delano officiating. Interment will be private.
