John Hamilton Bristow, 87, of Colonial Heights, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Petersburg and was the son of the late Roger Hamilton and Estelle Morris Bristow. Mr. Bristow retired from Continental Can after twenty-six years in the shipping department. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights. He is survived by his wife of sixty-six and a half years, Gertrude Perkinson Bristow; two daughters, Phyllis Bristow Lepley of Chesterfield and Linda Bristow Kump and husband, Steve of Colonial Heights; his son, James Hamilton Bristow and wife, Sharon of Petersburg; grandchildren, Linda Lepley Gentry and husband, Wade of Mosley, Cayce Ann Kump of Atlanta, and David Wayne Bristow and wife, Cheryl of Chesterfield; great grandchildren, Ashton Conner Gentry, Chelsea Guilliams and Crystal Guilliams. A special thanks, for his caregivers, Diane, Betsy and Carolyn. A funeral service will be Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Colonial Heights chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Rev. Alan D. Thorne officiating. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George.
