John Henry Brockwell, 96, of Colonial Heights passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016. Born on December 14, 1919, he was the son of the late Percy and Willie Brockwell, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Thompson Brockwell; and sisters, Lucille Barlow, Nonie Williams and Charlotte Laine. John was a member of Highland United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights, and was also a member of the American Legion Post 284 for 52 years, a member of the Colonial Heights Moose Lodge and Fort Powhatan Hunt Club. He was a United States Army veteran, having served during World War II and later retired from Allied Chemical. He is survived by sister-in-law, Ann Thompson of Hampton, Virginia; devoted and caring niece, Ann Harrison; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at the Dunlop House for their loving care. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Virginia, with the Reverend Gibbie Elder and Darwood Rowan officiating. His remains rest at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Colonial Heights Fire and EMS, P.O.
