After a brief illness, John Wesley Crowder III passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond. Mr. Crowder (Johnny), 66, was born in Petersburg, Virginia on January 10, 1945. Living in Colonial Heights most of his life, Johnny has spent 35 years building homes and managing property. He loved his family, his dog, Benjamin and his two grand-dogs, Maxwell and Jesse. They all loved him very much and he will truly be missed. He is survived by a devoted wife of 42 years, Patsy Wells Crowder; a daughter, Angela Christian Crowder; a son, John Wesley (Jody) Crowder IV; two brothers, Kenneth L. Crowder and David W. Crowder; and a sister, Karen C. Bristow. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. After the service, the family will receive friends at Dellwood Plantation in Chesterfield, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or to your local S.P.C.A.
