John Tipton "JT" Eldridge, Jr., 61, of Petersburg passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Born June 13, 1963, he was the son of the late Joleene Zelma Payne and John Tipton Eldridge, and was also preceded in death by his sister, Cynthia Michael.
JT was the proud owner of Stage One Lighting, where his talent and expertise illuminated countless events. His passion for lighting design also brought him to the Old Towne Civic Center, where he worked tirelessly to ensure every performance shone brightly. Collaborating with Voigt Enterprises, LLC and Main Stage Entertainment, JT’s artistry and technical skill left an lasting mark on the local entertainment scene.
In addition to his lighting work, JT took on maintenance and renovation projects for Denny's Restaurant chains. He particularly enjoyed the pancakes, a simple pleasure that brought him joy during his busy days.
Known for his fearless nature, JT had an uncanny comfort with heights—a trait that was both a necessity for his work and, some might say, a fault. His willingness to climb to great heights was a testament to his determination and adventurous spirit.
More than his professional accomplishments, JT will be remembered for his kind heart and unwavering loyalty to his friends. Always the first to lend a helping hand, he was a pillar of support for anyone in need.
JT’s legacy is one of light—both in the brilliance he brought to his work and the warmth he shared with those who knew him. He is survived by his loving friends, Billy Voigt, Deon Batts; and a long list of bands, venues and clubs.
