John Harpole Jr.

John D. Harpole Jr., 60, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, John D. Harpole Sr., and a sister, Donna Harpole Bishop Taylor. John was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, and a 1973 graduate of Colonial Heights High School. He was a sports fanatic, enjoying NASCAR racing, wrestling, basketball, and was a member of the "chain gang" for the Colonial Heights football games, as a volunteer for the Athletic Department. He is survived by his mother, Mabel L. Harpole of Colonial Heights; his sister, Kathy Wilcox of Florida; a niece, Kristine Wilcox; two nephews, Lloyd C. Bishop III and Noah Wilcox; and a great-niece, Sierra Bishop. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Fred Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service on Wednesday.
