John "Jay" Janeka, 94, of Disputanta, passed away on Monday, June 22,2020. Born in Prince George County on April 25, 1926, he was the son of the late George and Anna Evin Janeka. He was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Andrew, and Milan Janeka. Jay was a United States Marine Corps Veteran, having served honorably during the Korean War, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. He was the proprietor of a small excavating company. One of Jay's favorite poems was written by Stephen Grellet, "l expect to pass through this world but once. Any good thing, therefore, that I can show to any fellow human being let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it; for I shall not pass this way again." He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Jeanne Janeka, Jeanette Janeka Payne, and other family members. Caretakers, Rob Lawson Susan Lawson Hakim, Christian Grant Lawson, and other family members. Friends, Al Slaughter, Stephanie Tucker Little and Nelton Thomasson. Services will be private.
