John Edward Slaughter, Jr., 73, of Chester passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Born July 29, 1950, he was the son of the late John E. Slaughter, Sr. and June Horton Slaughter.
John dedicated 37 years to Allied Chemical/Honeywell as an electrician, showcasing his expertise. He retired in December 2015 and then spent two fulfilling years at ITAC.
Outside of work, John enjoyed fishing, hiking, and geocaching, immersing himself in the outdoors. He has been involved in scouting for the last 65 years, and also volunteered at Camp Brady Sanders, utilizing his electrical skills for the benefit of the community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debra A Slaughter; sons, John Slaughter III (Mika) and Douglas Slaughter; daughter, Cindy Goshea (Jonathan); granddaughters, Rachel Slaughter, Katie Slaughter, Maya Slaughter, Emma Slaughter; grandson, John Slaughter IV; two sisters, Janet Donald (William) and Joanne Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
