John Edward Styles, 65, of Chester, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee on October 15, 1958, he was the son of the late Walter Edward Styles and Helen Ruth Amburn Styles. He was also preceded in death by his oldest brother, Walter “Sam” Samuel Styles.
John had multiple careers throughout his life. He owned his own locksmithing business, and also worked for the VA Hospital as a locksmith in Salem, Virginia. While continuing his locksmithing career, John also owned and operated Village Geeks, specializing in IT services and computer repairs.
John had many adventurous hobbies, including skydiving and spelunking. He was in various clubs and organizations such as The Fathers’ Rights Movement activist and the Civil Air Patrol organization. John was well known for being sociable, as he never met a stranger and was always accepting of others. He was also very supportive and encouraging, especially when it came to his two sons, who he loved more than anything.
He is survived by his sons, Jonathan Edward Styles (Amanda), and Michael Aaron Styles; life partner of 14 years, Susan Papelino; grandchildren, Andrew Edward Styles, DeAnna Nicole Styles, and Zell Zackery Styles; sisters, Angela Ruth Styles Higgs, Shasta Styles Jinkins, and Melissa Styles Brandt; and many other extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the family residence, 12912 South Chester Road, Chester, Virginia 23831. Arrangements are by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes.
