John Warren Taylor, 78, of Chesterfield, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Henrico County, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Lucy Simmons Taylor, and was preceded in death by two brothers, and eight sisters. Mr. Taylor was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church for over 60 years, and was a self employed home builder. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Phyllis Taylor; a devoted father and grandfather, survived by four sons, John Keith Taylor and wife, Sharon of Prince George, Rodney Kent Taylor and wife, Elaina of Chesterfield, Sean Collier Taylor and wife, Anna of Chesterfield, and Christopher Ryan Taylor and wife, Stacy of Colonial Heights; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Jonathan, Berkeley, Kristen, Austin, Maya, Jonah, and Cassidy; one great-granddaughter, Emily Wells; a sister, Essie Taylor Bickings and husband, Howard of Chesterfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Malcomb Hutton and the Reverend Scott Price officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
