Msgt. John Phillip Todt, 75, retired, of Petersburg passed away peacefully at Southside Regional Medical Center on Saturday, February 18, 2012. Born in Taneytown, Maryland, he was the son of the late John Wilber and Bernice Bell Todt. He was predeceased in death by a sister, Beverly Todt. Mr. Todt was a veteran of the United States Army, EOD division. He served a tour in Vietnam from 1970-71, afterward returned to Fort Lee where he retired in 1976. He then went to work for the City of Petersburg and retired after 18 years of service. He was past commander of the American Legion Post 2 of Petersburg and past Grand Chef de Gare Voiture 977 of the 40/8, La Societe` des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux.. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 55 years, Seline Todt; daughters, Tanya Lipford, Jolene Cave and husband, Michael of Hopewell, Norene Lovdahl and husband, Ted of Newport News; son, John A. Todt and wife, Roxann of McKenney; grandchildren, Crystal Phillips and husband, Fred, Kelly Lipford, Brandi Daniel and husband, Stephen, Katie Lipford, Samantha Larned, Theodore Lovdahl IV and wife, Typhany, and Ashley Lovdahl; great grandchildren, Kaishawn Lipford, Megan Taylor, Bailee and Wyatt Daniel, Reese Phillips and Annie and Theodore Lovdahl V; sister, Susan Rizzo and husband Carmen, of Norristown, Pennsylvania, and numerous nieces and nephews. A family visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 7215 Squirrel Level Road, Petersburg 23805, with Fr. Jay Wagner officiating. Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery with full military honors.
