Joseph Edward Vaughan Sr., 89, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late John Edward and Mary Westmoreland Vaughan. Mr. Vaughan was a member of Ocran United Methodist Church, and a retired Operator with Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company. He is survived by a daughter, Joanne Valente of Dinwiddie; a son, Joseph Edward Vaughan Jr. and wife, Diane of Sutherland; five grandchildren, Tina Benson-Johnson and husband, Jimmy, Ann Benson, Rose Durbin and husband, Christopher, Jason Benson, and Joseph Edward Vaughan III and wife, Jody; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Calvin Vaughan and wife, Kathryn of Dinwiddie. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2011 in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George with the Reverend Gene Tatum officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road.
