Joseph Wayner Sr.

Joseph R. "Joe" Wayner, age 90 of Prince George, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Truly a Christian Man who was a friend to everyone he met. He was the son of the late Milton Otto and Agnes Opocensky Wayner and was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Elizabeth "Bet" Wayner. Mr. Wayner Sr. was in the masonry construction business for many years since the 1940's and truly loved his work and inspired his loving sons and family to continue his legacy. Mr. Wayner was a member of the Petersburg Seventh-day Adventist Church. He is survived by his children, Sandra Dunlap and husband, Johnny of Petersburg, Joe Wayner Jr. and wife, Carol of Somerset, Esther Dabney and husband, Norman of Yale, David Wayner and wife, Mary Carol of Prince George; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; his devoted brother, David W. Wayner of Greenville, S.C. who has made the last month of Joe's life so special, numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 300 Poplar Drive, Petersburg, Virginia 23805. Interment will follow in Prince George Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday May 6, 2013 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the: Petersburg Seventh-day Adventist Church or to the Prince George Fire and E.M.S., P.
