Joyce P. Ashley, 88, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at her home. Born in Dinwiddie, Virginia on March 14, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Claiborne Tucker Perdue, Sr. and Grace Schenck Perdue, and was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Cecil D. Ashley; brother, Claiborne T. Perdue, Jr.; son in-law, Charles Walter Franklin, Jr.; aunt, Lois Johnson; and sisters-in-law, Betty A. Stein, Mary Henshaw and Wilma Elkins.
She was a member of Matoaca Baptist Church and a retiree from the Virginia Department of Transportation.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon K. Franklin; son, Brian K. Ashley and wife, Sherri Ann Shink-Ashley; grandchildren, Robert A. Brown, Dianna A. Rosbicki and husband, Stephen G. Jr. and Shawn P. Ashley; great-granddaughters, Brianna Nicole Rosbicki, Hailey Grace Rosbicki, and Claire Leanne Rosbicki; sister-in-law, Sharon Perdue; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Rev. Marco Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
