Joyce Delisle

Joyce Ann Delisle, 75, of Midlothian passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022. Born in Petersburg, Virginia on January 1, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Guy Thomas and Cathleen Mae Bishop, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Michiel Delisle.

After over 30 years of dedicated service, Joyce retired from Petersburg City Public Schools, having taught 4th and 5th grade. She then became a substitute teacher for Chesterfield County Public Schools for several years.

Joyce enjoyed traveling, especially to St. Augustine which was her favorite place to visit. She was an avid reader, who enjoyed reading anything Stephen King. She cherished her time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Phillip Alexander Delisle and wife, Kantaka, Christopher Michael Delisle and wife, Samantha; four grandchildren, Gabby and Natalie Delisle and Anawin and Neelan Delisle; brother, Tommy Bishop and wife, Mary; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Inurnment will take place in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia at a later date.
