Joyce Townsend

Joyce Turek Townsend, 69, of Hopewell, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2010. She was the widow of Charles Roy Townsend and the daughter of the late Charley and Annie Vlkojan. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Townsend, a granddaughter, Jessica Hicks, and a grandson, Nicholas Emory. She was a retired employee of Ukrops. Mrs. Townsend is survived by a daughter, Joy A. Hicks and husband, Ronald of Picture Rocks, Pennsylvania; step daughters, Millicent Hilderbrand and Monty Townsend; grandchildren, Holli Emory, Rylan Hicks, Kaylin Hicks, Makayla Hicks, and Alaina Hicks; brothers, Richard W. Wall and wife, Mary of Chester, Robert Wall of Chester, and Charley Vlkojan III and wife, Brenda of Morganton, North Carolina; and sister, Doris Wall of Mineral Wells, Texas and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory 2033 Boulevard, with the Bishop Troy Kaichen officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
