Joyce Daniel Wells

Joyce Daniel Wells, 88, of Colonial Heights, passed away peacefully, Friday, August 9, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Petersburg, the daughter of the late Willis Lee Daniel and Elizabeth Cheely Daniel. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Franklin Wells, and her grandson Cayden Andrew Brenya. She was a charter member of Colonial Christian Church in Colonial Heights, a former employee of Southside Regional Medical Center, formerly known as Petersburg General Hospital. After graduating from Stuart Circle Hospital School of Nursing in 1957 as the most outstanding nurse, she worked as a highly regarded and skilled nurse for 40 plus years. After retiring, she enjoyed time at the beach, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her four daughters and their spouses, Joanne Wells Berryman and husband Wilson of Chester, Vicki Wells Neville and husband Wilton of Midlothian, Lesly Wells McBride and husband Michael of N. Dinwiddie, and Shannon Wells Stone and husband Dwayne of Tomball, Texas, Sister, Sandra Daniel Harrison of Chester, Brother Gerald L. Daniel and wife Bev, brother-in-law, Lawrence DeSouza of Colonial Heights, her 11 grandchildren, Bradley T. Berryman, Ashley B. Mitchell, Cary W. Berryman, Erin N. Mahoney, W. Christopher “Chris” Neville, Christopher C. Ashby, Caitlin S. Ashby, Savannah M. Simmons, Brooke S. Wilkins, Donald W. Stone, III, and James W. Stone, and her 13 great-grandchildren, Kenly Berryman, Charlotte Berryman, Grayson Mitchell, Oakley Mitchell, Rhett Berryman, Raelynn Berryman, Ruby Ann Berryman (arriving October, 2024), Caroline Ashby, Asher Weatherford, Wynter Wilkins, Aliyah Wilkins, Maxine Wilkins, and Serenity Wilkins. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2024, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with Aaron Bobo of Smyrna Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be Private.
