Julia Buren

Julia Gay Buren, 91, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018. Born in Petersburg, on June 23, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Emma Grammer Gay. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas R. Buren Sr.; two sisters, Mildred Vaughan and Grace Bryant; and two brothers, Edward Gay and Wilbur Gay. Mrs. Buren was a charter member of Swift Creek Baptist Church, Colonial Heights and a member of the Senior Citizens Club of Colonial Heights. She is survived by a son, Douglas R. Buren Jr. (Sharon); a daughter, Carol Buren Ricker (Donald); grandchildren, Jessica Moody Von Gehr (Erich), Krystal Moody McKenzie, Adam Buren (Misty), and Kathleen Buren Rathien (Harry); great-grandchildren, Alexis Cannon, Aiden & Hudson Buren, Ally & Emma Von Gehr, and Zelda Rathien. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the funeral home.
