Julia Jones-Hubbard, 80, of Colonial Heights, went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2008 after an extended illness. She was born June 29, 1928 in Charlottesville, Virginia, the daughter of the late James S. and Sarah Annie Tomlin. She is predeceased by four sisters and four brothers. Mrs. Jones-Hubbard was a graduate of Lane High School and attended Frostburg State Teachers College in Frostburg, Maryland. Julia and her beloved late husband of fifty years, Jim Jones, moved to Colonial Heights in 1962. Julia worked in Fashion Merchandising and as a buyer for Sears Roebuck for seventeen years. She was also an employee of Rucker Rosenstock and Peebles Department Store. She has been an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church, serving in many capacities including singing in the choir which was her joy and passion. She was also a member of Oak Hill Garden Club and loved gardening, crafts, and traveling. Mrs. Jones-Hubbard is survived by her husband of two years, Warren Hubbard; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Brenda Jones of Atlanta, Georgia; a daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Glenn Taylert of Midlothian; four grandchildren, Crystal Edds-McAfee, Michael Ryan Jones, Matthew Taylert, and Kevin Taylert; two great-grandchildren, Garrett Michael McAfee and Grace Anne McAfee. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2008 in Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. David Prather and the Rev. Fred Adkins officiating. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
