Julia Smith, 97, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Percy B. and Nola Barbee Richardson, and the widow of Harry Fritz Smith Sr. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Richardson, Ed Richardson, and Blake Richardson Jr. She retired from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company with 38 years of service. She is survived by her son, Harry Fritz "Buddy" Smith Jr. and wife, Margaret of Colonial Heights; a sisters-in-law, Mildred Smith of Petersburg, and Mary Leigh Bolling of Virginia Beach; a brother-in-law, Luther Smith and wife, Virginia of Charleston, South Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia with the Reverend Eugene Ballance officiating. The visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
