June Joles

June Edwards Joles, 84, of Chester, departed this life and went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Friday, October 2, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Wesley B. and Elizabeth Dent Edwards. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Owen, and numerous brothers and sisters. Mrs. Joles was a member of the Oak Hill Garden Club of Colonial Heights, Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church and worked for many years at the Bank of Virginia and Allied Chemical Company. Mrs. Joles is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Robert P. Joles; three daughters, Gwendolyn Martin and husband, Barry of Rice, Virginia, Amy Akin and husband, Mark of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Beth Grissom and husband Carl Jr. of Chesapeake, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Amanda Holliday, Erin Greene, Ian Akin, Madalyn Grissom, Emily Grissom, Tori Grissom, David Martin and James Martin; four great-grandchildren, D.J., Jude, Elijah, and Lois. A loving wife and mother, she was devoted to her family and the Lord. She will be greatly missed. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Tom Brown and the Reverend Robert Greene officiating. Interment Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 -8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
