June Clark Wood, 88, of Colonial Heights, departed this life on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at her home. Born in Pamplin, Virginia on December 27, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Ruby Williams Clark and Hal Flood Clark, and was also preceded in death by her husband, John E. Wood, and her sister, Anne C. Dinwiddie. She was dedicated to education and obtained her undergraduate degree from Longwood University and her Master's Degree from Virginia State University. June was a substitute teacher for the Colonial Heights school system for many years, taught at Bollingbrook School in Petersburg, and later joined delegate Kirk Cox's staff. On June 15, 1950, June married John Earl Wood. She has been a long standing member of Second Presbyterian Church where she stayed active serving Christ since 1968. June loved playing bridge, enjoyed dinner plays, outings with her friends, and all types of music. She is survived by her two loving children, John S. Wood and wife, Pamela, and Sarah C. Wood and grand-dog, Zach; and her grandson, Stephen L. Wood. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with Rev. Dr. Randy Clipp officiating. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. in Pamplin Cemetery, 267 Church Street, Pamplin, Virginia 23958. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
