Karen Elko Wellington, 43, of South Chesterfield died suddenly on Saturday, May 26, 2018. Born October 19, 1974, she was the daughter of Michael Joseph III and Brigitte McAdoo Elko. Karen was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She graduated St. Vincent de Paul High School and then attended Richard Bland College and was a graduate of Southside Regional Nursing School. She worked as an Emergency Room Registered Nurse at various hospitals and became a licensed phlebotomist in 2017. Karen loved animals, enjoyed horseback riding, was a UNC basketball fan and loved watching Game of Thrones. She was a caregiver for her family whenever she was needed. She is survived by her loving parents; daughters, Abbey Elizabeth Crosier of Prince George and Aerolyn Elise Smith of Colonial Heights; brothers, Michael Joseph Elko IV (Stacey) and Christopher Wayne Elko both of South Chesterfield; aunt, Carol Elko Berry (Richard) of Malvern, PA; nieces, Oliva Brady Elko and Caitlin Elko of South Chesterfield and dear and supportive friend, Wynn A. Meredith of Richmond. A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Hwy, South Chesterfield, Virginia 23834, with Father Danny Cogut officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the church.
