Karl Young

Karl C. Young, 84, of Sutherland, formerly of Colonial Heights, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio he was the son of the late Hoy C. and Leona Reed Young. He was a member of the Greenwood Presbyterian Church, and Masonic Lodge #261 in Ohio. Mr. Young was a veteran with the United States Navy having served during World War II, and a retired Supervisor with Reynolds Metals printing department. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Young; sons, Karl Michael Young and wife, Karen of Powhatan, Roger Allen Young and wife, Trudy of Dinwiddie, and Greg Lynn Young and wife, Beth of Asheboro, North Carolina; two daughters, Marcia Jean Harding of Glen Allen, and Terri Young Sawyer and husband, Buddy of Nags Head, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Geraldine Cook of Madison, Tennessee. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2012 in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia, Virginia 23002 with the Reverend Sylvester Bullock officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
