Kay Frances Rowland, 71, went to a place without pain Monday, November 3, 2008, following an extended illness. Born in Prince George, October 4, 1937 to the late Paul and Mary Frances Ledford. A lifelong resident of the Hopewell - Prince George area. She was educated in the Hopewell school system and retired from civil service at Fort Lee. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Claude Calvin Rowland; a daughter, Candace (Rea) Cofer; a brother, David (Linda) Ledford; brothers-in-law, Gene (Mitsy) Rowland, Joseph (Gale) Rowland and a sister-in-law, Jane (Jack) King; first cousins, Ruth (Rocco) Caponigro, Linda (Robert) Hobbs, Judith (Paul) Lafluer, Mary (Daryle) Hurt, Robert (Nancy) Brown, Wanda Sue Ledford, and Troy (Darlene) Ledford; many other cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her close friends, Almeady Askew, Marlene Evans and Ida Mae Logan. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2008 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with Dr. Alex Roberts officiating. Interment Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday (tonight) at the funeral home.
