Kenneth E. Hatcher, Jr., 58, of Lake Gaston, NC, passed away after a long battle with multiple myloma at Duke Hospital on October 12, 2011. Kenny was born in Petersburg, VA and was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth E. Hatcher, Sr. and Barbara W. Hatcher; a brother, Terry Lynn Hatcher; and a son, Kenneth E. Hatcher, III. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Frances Wallace Hatcher; four children, Amy P. Forrest (Josh) of Atlanta, GA, Cathy Mitchell (Mitch) of Hopewell, VA, Michael Young (Anna) of Chesterfield, VA, and Christopher Young (Gladys) of Richmond, VA; two sisters Deborah Hatcher Edlin (Everett) of Disputanta, VA and Nancy Golden (Tom) of Durham, NC; two aunts, Linda Hailey (Sam) of South Boston, VA and Ann Wickum (Tom) of Lebanon, OR; one uncle, Dewey Hatcher (Nancy) of Halifax, VA; many family members including nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and his loyal canine, Mini the Min Pin. Kenny was a long time employee of URS Corporation and an avid sportsman. His passion was bass fishing and he spent as many hours as possible on the water. He also enjoyed sports including NASCAR, football and baseball. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and a friend to everyone. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard 23834.
