Kenneth Jones

Kenneth Claiborne Jones, 88, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Born on July 25, 1933, in Petersburg, he is the son of the late James Landon Jones and Dora Guy Jones. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Guy Jones and James Melvin Jones, and a sister, Katherine Jones McMahon.

After graduating from Petersburg High School in 1951, Kenneth was called into the military service, and served his country in Korea. He is a retired engineer of 27 years at Philip Morris and was a member of the American Legion Post #284. He also enjoyed watching sports, and was a past member of the Colonial Heights Golf League. Kenneth was a very generous man, always willing to give a helping hand to his fellow man.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, JoAn Walker Jones; his son, Keith L. Jones (Sherri); grandchildren, Heather Coleman (Hunter), Taylor Bruton (Jonnie), and Graham Tyler Jones; great-grandchildren, Hadley Kate Coleman, Hartleigh Bruton, and Adeline Bruton; niece, Karen Jones Chandler; and nephews, Terry McMahon and Dr. Michael McMahon.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 17001 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 W Hundred Road Chester, Virginia 23831. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. The family would like to personally thank Deneen Gathers, Inma Arnau, and Hospice of Virginia, for their exceptional care that has been given to Kenneth.
