Kenneth Franklin "Jackie" Samuel, 75 of Colonial Heights died on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Petersburg and was the son of the late Stanley M. and Mary E. Traylor Samuel. Mr. Samuel was a retired electrician for Hall Brothers Electrical; he was also the former owner of Petersburg Electric Corp and a former employee for W.M. Bowman Electrical. Kenneth was a United States Army Veteran. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. Mr. Samuel is survived by his wife of 51 years, Thelma E. Samuel; two daughters, Shelby S. Johnson and husband, Shawn, of Colonial Heights and Karen S. Belcher and husband, Keith, of Prince George. Grandchildren: Brandon, Valerie, Christopher and Amanda Belcher; a sister, Shirley Mitchell and husband, Ray Holt, of Surry, a brother, Robert Samuel of Sterling, Virginia. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be Saturday, February 14, 2009 11:00 a.m., at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Rev. David Prather and Rev. Fred Adkins officiating. Interment Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends Friday evening at the funeral home from 7-8:30pm.
