Kenton Chestnut

February 8, 1925 — February 2, 2015

Kenton T. Chestnut, 89, of Colonial Heights, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 2, 2015 at his home. Born in Frost, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Kenton T. and Bessie B. Chestnut, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor MacDonald and Rosalie Woodward; and a brother, Carlon Chestnut. Mr. Chestnut was a member and a former elder of the Hopewell Church of Christ, and a United States Navy veteran having served during World War II on the USS Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife, Ivra Chestnut; a son, Roddy Chestnut and wife, Harriet; a daughter, Lee Ann Saunders; grandchildren, Zachary Chestnut, Jonathan Chestnut, Todd Thongthai, Bethany Mattingly and husband, Vince and Reade Saunders; great-granddaughters, Emma and Ella Mattingly. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Hopewell Church of Christ, 310 N. 3rd Avenue, Hopewell, Virginia 23860 with Mural Worthey officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hopewell Church of Christ. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
