Larry James Hawkins, 72, of South Chesterfield passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born on April 30, 1943, he was the son of the late Clyde and Mary Hawkins. Larry served in the United States Navy and was a handyman around the house, as he loved to piddle around with various projects. He was well known for his kind heart and his world famous breakfast. Larry cherished his grandchildren who he loved with all his heart. He is survived by his teenage sweetheart and loving wife of 53 years, Olga Hawkins; daughters, Holly Marie Hawkins-Pond (Guy) and Amanda LeeAnn Hawkins (Greg Ferrara); son, Larry Shane Hawkins (Cindy); grandson, Robert Alex Brody Hawkins; granddaughters, Kathryn Ann Pond and Peyton Nicole Ferrara; beloved siblings Mary Jo Jameson (the late, Hugh Jameson), Jerome Hawkins (Sue), Charles Carroll Hawkins (Antinette), Albert Hawkins (Linda), and Elizabeth "Libby" Harned (Jerry); sister-in-law, Maude Lenburger (William); brother-in-law, Arthur "Reb" Gremillion (Carolyn); many special nieces and nephews; and his furry four-legged family, Buddy, Buttercup and Pixie. Larry also leaves behind many beloved friends, who he considers to be a part of his family. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with Father Brian Capuano and family friend, Doug Pond officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
