Lawrence "Larry" Lealen Davis Jr.

Lawrence “Larry" Lealen Davis Jr., 73, of South Chesterfield County (Matoaca), Virginia, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023. Larry was born on January 21, 1950, in Fayetteville, North Carolina.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Lealen Davis Sr. and Nancy Irene Miller Davis, and sisters, Martha, Wanda, and Shirley.  He grew up in Chesapeake (Great Bridge), Virginia.  At 21, he realized his childhood dream of becoming a Virginia State Trooper and later a Senior Special Agent, retiring after 37 years in 2008.  An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and boating, and he was a passionate Washington Redskins fan. Larry was first and foremost a family man, with his favorite titles being Larry “D”, Daddy, Dad and Papa. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Rock Davis, daughter, Angela Elaine Davis Dunnavant (Chad), son, Kevin Lealen Davis (Melissa) and four beloved grandchildren, Trevor Lealen Davis, Alora Rose, Max McTyier, and Haden Steel Dunnavant. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church 9227 River Road South Chesterfield, Virginia 23803. The burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 9227 River Road, South Chesterfield, (Matoaca), Virginia, for the Backpack Program and/or youth programs.  Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
