Leo Barfield, 86, of Matoaca, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2010 at Colonial Heights Health Care. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Charles B. Barfield Sr. and Erma Spiers Barfield, and was preceded in death by a brother, Charles B. Barfield Jr. Mr. Barfield was a United States Army veteran having served during World War II, in the Battle of the Bulge, and the Korean War, and was a retired Warehouse Manager for Lee Distributing. He is survived by his wife, Lucy Humphries Barfield; two sons, Richard Leo Barfield and wife, Jane B. of Chester, and David Christian Barfield and wife, Khai of Matoaca; four daughters, Sheila B. Bragg and husband, George of Chester, Patricia B. Cornett of Matoaca, Kathryn B. Laffoon and husband, Kevin of Matoaca, and Deborah B. Williamson and husband, Troy of Chester; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Josephine B. Wojcik of Wycoff, New Jersey, and Rebecca B. Newton of Petersburg. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg with the Reverend Donald Joyner officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
