Leona Thomas

Leona Owensby Thomas, 87, of Colonial Heights, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at her residence. She was born July 14, 1926 in Packolet, South Carolina to the late Vance Edward and Vinnie Louise McAbee Owensby. Leona was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harry Lee Thomas Jr. and two sisters, Sara Bennett and Elise Sweigart. She is survived by her daughters Patricia Willmer of Richmond, Brenda Vincent and husband Buddy of Chester, Linda Maillard and husband Mike of Richmond, Deborah Ballard and husband Stephen of Dover, Delaware; nine grandchildren, , fourteen great-grandchildren, one new great-great granddaughter and a dear sister in Christ Glenice Archer. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014 in the Crosslight Assembly of God Church 27 Seyler Drive Petersburg, Virginia 23805 with the Reverend David S. Wiley officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday February 25, 2014 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard.
