Leverne Klaas

LeVerne Louis "Lou" Klaas, 94, passed away on Monday, February 29, 2016. Born in Freeport, IL he was the son of the late Alvin and Carolina Apfelbach Klaas; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Mae Klaas. Lou retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer after 26 years of service. He is survived by his son, Skip Klaas and wife, Nalena; one granddaughter, Angela Novak and husband, Michael; and a great-granddaughter, Kathryn Novak. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dinwiddie County Animal Shelter, P.O. Drawer 70, Dinwiddie, VA 23841 in memory of Mr. Klaas.
