Lewis Oliver Harrison, 78, of North Dinwiddie passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at his home. Born on December 7, 1938, he was the son of the late Howard E. Harrison, Sr and Mary Catherine Harrison, and was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ronnie, Chucky, and Dink Harrison; and his nephew, Mark Harrison. Lewis was a United States Air Force veteran, having proudly served eight and a half years to his country. He worked in the construction field starting as a laborer at a young age, and becoming a superintendent. For many years, Lewis coached baseball all around the tri-city area, served as Baseball Commissioner, and was a high school football referee. He was a former member of Highland Methodist Church and a former member of the Optimist Club. Mr. Harrison is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Rose Marie Harrison; two sons, Christopher Harrison, Kevin Harrison and wife, Alecia; two granddaughters, Lauren Ashley Harrison, Catherine Elizabeth Harrison; three brothers, Howard Harrison, Jr. and wife, Deolinda, Jerry Harrison and wife, Sandra, Phillip Harrison and wife, Bridgette; three sisters, Betty O'Shields and husband, Ronnie, Carol Paul and husband, Fred, Linda Monger and husband, David; and numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and many cherished friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Matoaca United Methodist Church, 6301 River Rd, South Chesterfield, VA 23803, with the Reverend Richard Gordon officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or a charity of your choice.
