Lillie Walker

Lillie Ruth Walker, 93, of Colonial Heights passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Born in Granville County, North Carolina on November 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Royal Hubert and Lillian Williford Parrott and was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Preston Earl Walker; brother, Royal Hubert Parrott Jr. and sister, Peggy Doris Crowder.

Ruth’s family moved from North Carolina to South Hill, Virginia where she met the love of her life, Preston. They celebrated almost 70 years of marriage. She worked as a beautician until starting her family of which she was so proud. Ruth was a member of Highland United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights where she rocked countless babies in the nursery.

She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Diane Neace (Bill); son, Robert Earl Walker (Paige); two grandsons, Eric and Jason Neace; granddaughter, Lauren Walker (Roger); brother-in-law, Raymond Walker (Dottie); sister-in-law, Nell Clements (Harold); and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her at home caregivers, Edith Smith, Charleen Drew, Jackie Crawley and Melodie Dittmon, the staff at the Dunlop House in Colonial Heights and Crater Community Hospice for all their love, care and support.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 in the Mausoleum at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, South Prince George, VA with Pastor Joe Carson officiating.   The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Back Pack Blessings” in care of Highland United Methodist Church, 125 E.
