Linda Essig

Linda Gibbs Essig, 66, of Chester, VA passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Chippenham Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late James E. and Joyce Hess Gibbs. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and had retired from Chesterfield County Public Schools as a Para Professional after many years of service. Mrs. Essig is survived by her loving husband, Frederick A. Essig; four children, Troy Schrum (Tricia), Beth Schrum, Damon Essig (Pam) and Jeremy Essig (Svetlana); six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra Simpson (Tom) and Cynthia Barfield (Robert); a brother, Jay Gibbs; and her two beloved pets, Molly and Lacey. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Rev. William Rawlings, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the funeral home.
