Lois Brown

Lois Mae (Tucker) Brown, 85, of Colonial Heights, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2015, surrounded by her family. Lois was born on September 11, 1929 in Petersburg, VA to parents William and Bessie Tucker. She grew up in Petersburg, an alumnus of Petersburg High School. She married the love of her life, Sgt. Maj. Joseph Brown, on March 13, 1948. The couple settled on Windsor Avenue in Colonial Heights, VA where they raised their two daughters. Lois was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, and a recent resident of The Crossings at Ironbridge in Chester, VA. Lois was a devoted and loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother - the three roles that made up her world. She enjoyed music, and her love of music transferred to her two daughters who found their callings as musicians. She loved spending time with her family, especially her two daughters, who would often join her for tea parties and viewings of Anne of Green Gables. She was known for her kind heart and positive spirit, carrying on the tradition of compassion and love espoused by her father. She joins in Heaven her parents William and Bessie Tucker; brothers; William, Aubrey, and Earl Tucker and sister, Ruth Pride. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Joseph Brown; daughters, Janice Dalton and Denise Lee; sons-in-law Bill Dalton and Bob Lee; grandchildren Cass Dalton, Lora Dalton, Tiffany Lee, and Cristen Lee. She also leaves behind many friends and family whose lives were enriched by her presence. A funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 16, 2015 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, 23834 with the Reverend Wayne Gibson and wife, Patricia officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery Petersburg, Virginia. The family will receive friends Monday Junes 15, 2015 from 7:00 - 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
