Lois Jeanne Sanderson Dyson, 83, of S. Chesterfield, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Hopewell, she was the daughter of the late Leon A. and Dorothy Short Sanderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Dyson and brother, James Franklin Vaughan. She retired from Bank of America as an Assistant Vice President with over 60 years of distinguished service. She was a dedicated and active member of Woods United Methodist Church for 47 years serving as Assistant Treasurer, Sunday School teacher and Choir member. The Matoaca Women's Club recently honored Jeanne with a lifetime membership at a luncheon in recognition of 47 years of service in the community and a charter member of the organization. She also served as a member of the Petersburg Methodist Home for Girls Foundation. Jeanne will be lovingly remembered by her step-children, J. Stephen Dyson and wife, Elizabeth K., and Lynda D. Elmore and husband, Thomas of Midlothian; step-grandchildren, Kimberly Dyson Tingen and husband, Thaxton of Midlothian, and Craig Dyson and wife, Cara of Maryland; brothers, Kenneth Sanderson and wife, Arleen of Glen Allen, and L. Allan Sanderson of S. Chesterfield; nephews, Ted Sanderson of Glen Allen, David Sanderson of Glen Allen, Bryan Sanderson of Williamsburg, Mark and Doris Sanderson of Matoaca; nieces, Mary Kaye Sanderson of CA, Jeanne Rose Sanderson of GA, Jo Anne Bitner and husband, Jim of Oakton, Rebecca Sanderson of TX, Jennifer Sandmann of FL; 5 great-grandchildren and 7 grand nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Wood's United Methodist Church, 7200 Hickory Road, S. Chesterfield, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Joseph T. Carson, the Reverend David C. Morefield and the Reverend Gene C. Tatum officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-5:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
