Velma Delois "Lois" Cordero Sabourin, 86, of Petersburg, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Bethel, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Bertha Keene Pinckard. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Irineo Cordero; and her second husband, William Sabourin; a daughter, Billie Jean Pinckard Norris; and a son, Randy Pinckard. Lois lived most of her life in California, and came to live in Virginia after meeting Irineo. She worked for many years at Petersburg General Hospital, and went on to take care of many others as a Nurse's Aide at both Hiram W. Davis Medical Center and the Colonial Heights Health Care Center. Lois was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #2, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #882. She is survived by a son, Gary Dean Pinckard of Monrovia, California; two daughters, Olivia Denise Yates of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Cindy Cordero Reynolds of N. Dinwiddie; a son-in-law, Toby Reynolds; a granddaughter, Chelsea Reynolds both of Chesterfield; a grandson, Adam Lewis Reynolds of Edmund, Oklahoma; extended family in California, Oregon and Missouri to include grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; and a dear friend & neighbor, Ginny Bishop. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will be held at a later date in Quantico National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.
